Alison has worked both for the NHS and privately. Alison was a Consultant Clinical Psychologist at South Tyneside District Hospital for 10 years before moving onto Senior Leaderships positions at Newcastle University (Head of Student Wellbeing Services and Deputy Academic Registrar) and Trinity College, Dublin (Director of Student Services). In these positions she was responsible for, among other things, services that supported the mental health and wellbeing of the student population.
Alison specialises in working with children and young people with physical health problems and chronic conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, migraine, unexplained stomach pains etc. She also works with children and young people with depression, low mood, anxiety, separation difficulties, phobias etc.
Alison utilises a range of therapies dependent on the presenting issues and assessment. These include cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy and systemic therapy.
